Silver Fox is sick

The best laid plans...are not our style.  Just as well, really because if we did have well thought out and organised travel plans, they would have all gone out the window today because David has come down with a most fearsome lurgy.  So our vague ideas about leaving Cairns today and heading for Port Dogless, to see if there are any dogs there, have been shelved.  We will stay here, trying to keep Marjory at a good distance from David's germs, while he recovers enough to travel.  At present he has a sore throat, a Paul Robeson voice and is lying low.  Marjory worries that he is suffering a fever because of draughts, and wishes to close the louvres. David pleads for a cooling breeze. I'm staying right out of it.

In other news, a parcel for both David's (17 October) and my (30 October) birthdays arrived from Wim and Akinyi yesterday, full of lovely goodies. We took some photos and made up a web album for them: http://picasaweb.google.com.au/glennhume/20101025#

But here are the edited highlights.

This lovely Kazuri (Swahili: small and beautiful) necklace is made of hand painted beads and is from Kenya.

Talented ex-Canberra musician Jonno Zilber is a friend of Wim's.

Also, fruity candles and sandalwood incense. No sandflies for us.
