Happy Birthday David

The silver fox is having a birthday today. How old is he? Let me simply say, he is not yet eligible for his seniors card. Not quite yet...

So Marjory and I tried to spoil him a bit, but the best laid plans can go awry. Breakfast out at a cafe didn't turn out so well. Luckily, David's breakfast was beautiful, but the ham in my croissant was so old it nearly made its own way back to the kitchen, and Marjory's pancakes were doughy in the middle and also had to be sent back.  On the bright side, the coffee and fruit juices were great.  Unfortunately, something in Marjory's breakfast, perhaps the cavendish bananas, did not agree with her and she lost her breakfast on the way home. Oh dear.

So we abandoned the plan to buy David a new hat and slunk home. Everybody had a sit down and think. I decided to give David a manicure.  Here he is, apparently enjoying it. The article in his left hand, for those readers with enquiring minds, or lurid imaginations, is his new nose hair trimmer. Those of us much shorter than David all agree it is an ornament to his toolbox.

Now I must go and make him a birthday cake.

And here, by the miracle of post-post blog editing, is the cake being cut!

  1. What happened to the trips to Karumba, Atherton, Mossman, Mareeba etc etc (not to mention Port Douglas et al)? This staying in suburban Cairns doesn't sound like the Rover aa Over we know and Love.
