Yesterday David fished off Moruya Heads at Preddy's wharf and caught two bream and a silver dory. But being a gentle soul, as always he just admired them and then set them free to swim away. Not so caring and sparing when it comes to oysters, thankfully. We went for a walk along Moruya River at sunset yesterday, and every surface of everything under the high tide mark is covered with oysters. I guess they must be wildlings from the oyster leases around here. Can you eat them, I wonder? The sunset was rooly specky as you can see from the photo.
As you know, the combination of sunset, champagne and oysters is very desirable. Which led us, by a natural progression, to the Moruya Waterfront Hotel for champagne. We drank the champagne and looked at the sunset and the oysters. Not quite perfection, but pretty good. Then we went back to the van and David made a fantastic chicken and corn soup.
Today we spent in the company of various real estate persons, getting up close and personal about acreage and/or houses in the vicinity around Moruya. Saw a few interesting places, and more to see tomorrow, but at this stage nothing that inspires us to sell our Bega place and live here instead. We have devised a checklist of desirable features, with spaces for comments and a column for a score out of 10 and yes, printed copies out and put them in The Red Folder that we carry around with us on these possible-purchase expeditions. The same red folder that inspired one caravan vendor to size us up in 2 seconds. He said, You a teacher? I bet you're a teacher. Can always pick the teachers, they got folders and too much stuff written in 'em.
So tonight was State of Origin night. Now this was the acid test of the audiovisual capabilities of our rig. Would it be possible for David to be able to see, hear and commentate at the screen while it was all happening while I was able to be un-Australian and not participate? A big ask in such a small space. But by the miracle of the laptop, TV antenna and headphones, plus a big cushion to lean against and a footstool for his size 12's, it all came together for David. I went to bed and read the paper. Everyone happy.
