Life on the road - let's blow this town!

Its just gone 8pm and David is ready for a hot water bottle and bed, so I'd better get on with this post. We cycled and walked most of the day, exploring the somewhat limited natural wonders of Bateman's Bay. David tried his line in the Cullendulla Creek at low tide and got a bite but no dinner. Just as well because later we found an uprooted sign declaring it as a wildlife sanctuary, no fishing, no collecting. Could explain why the three people hammering oysters off the rocks opposite looked so furtive.

Surfside Bay wasn't in the least surfsided, but it did sport a prosperous looking bloke pedalling his hobie cat, all rigged up with four fixed rods and a recliner. Barefoot, wearing sunglasses and a relaxed expression. But he didn't seem to be catching anything either. Unlike the young family we chatted with who caught two large fish off the rocks with their bare hands and a net the day before. What kind of fish were they? Dunno, they said, big silver type ones. With scales.

Locals tell us there was a "mini cyclone" through here a couple of weeks ago and the shattered casuarinas on the beach tell that story.

Tomorrow it's south to Moruya and some serious real estate research. Will we find the dream location for our future lifestyle somewhere near there?

  1. Sad casuarinas. We will be in Tura Beach next weekend so may drop in if you are close to that location. Will call later this week if the blog doesn't give your location. Happy fishing for aquatic, as well as residential, life.
