This post has been lodged by Colonel Afferbeck Lauder, in my capacity as Moderator of Claimed and Known Records in Scrabble, also known as MOCKRS. It has come to our attention that a record was claimed falsely on this site within the last 24 hours. Our invigilators never sleep. Careful examination of the board in question clearly reveals that while there was some low level skill in the game, the players facility with numbers was sadly lacking. In short there was not one but two, yes, I repeat, Two mathematical errors on the part of the record keeper. I believe this person to be a retire psychologist, so this does not surprise us here at MOCKRS. This person claimed an extra one hundred points, not only on the winner's score but also on her own. At least she was even handed so to speak. The correct scores were: Silver Fox 389 and Retired Psychologist 365. Total 764. A very long way, ladies and gentlemen from a record of any sort. Even in Tathra.
A serious breach such as this requires some consequences. It is the practice of the International Scrabble Association to seek suggestions from players as to what consequences are appropriate in any given case. Past punishments have involved such things as directing that games be played without the "e" for example. Or that games be played in difficult locations, such as on the top of windy hills, unclothed. Over to you.
Clearly this situation cannot be allowed to continue. And I have still to have a clear explanation on plowing. How could retired psychologist ever be trusted to keep score let alone calculate same! And the greatest irony is that silver fox actaully won (a rare event that is true). As I suggested by email the red card seems to be the only choice for such recalcitrants. And the game is no longer called SCRABBLE. It is now to be know as handabble to keep in line with recent international movements on game nomenclature.
