Two kayaks, a tinnie and a packet of chips

Enough money to buy two kayaks and a tinnie, with a bit left over for a packet of chips, that's what we reckon the car has cost us this last week. Sigh.  Had to be done, we keep telling ourselves. You have to bite the bullet.  It now drives a great deal better.

Today is the first day of Spring! In Queensland, the climate of warm and warmer, you hardly notice. But back there in four seasons land: Canberra, Melbourne and so forth, you must be loving the spring flowers and the slightly more balmy temperatures. Spring was always my favourite season in the garden.  Forster has four proper seasons, so we're told.  I'm starting to get GDS, garden deprivation syndrome. Can you tell? Thinking and planning for the great building project continues. We have created a web album with photos of design ideas we like, all annotated.  If you're interested, go to: http://picasaweb.google.com.au/glennhume/20100814DesignIdeas#

The last couple of days we have been relaxing in and around the Sunshine Coast.

We took Sharloe on a little bushwalk to Kondalilla Falls. She was completely fascinated by the water and kept trying to launch out of my arms and get into it.

It was a good workout for the aged baby boomers, carrying a solid and wriggly bundle and trying to keep her wrapped from the cold and mossies. How we wished for a back pack!

When I was growing up, roast chicken was a very special meal.  Now in the caravan, roasts are not practicable so it is again a very special meal.  Well last night we had a very special meal of roast chicken with herb and bread stuffing, crispy potatoes, pumpkin, sweet potato, tomato pie, peas and a bucket of gravy. It was droolingly delicious. David is such a good cook. Don't you just feel like having the same thing tonight?
