Today the settlement finally happened on the sale of our Canberra apartment. Whew! That was a bit of a struggle. Took months and months longer than we thought it would to sell. But our agent Frank Longhurst (Luton's) got us a good price again. Was the slow sale a sign of the times? Every day we see things in the media about the forthcoming crash in house prices. Well, they've been saying that ever since Kevin Rudd was first elected, and it hasn't happened so far. But we are still glad to be settled and sold and out of Canberra. The Bega farmhouse also sold earlier this year, so we are cashed up and ready to build! Now, if inflation can just stay under control a little bit...
People continue to be kind to us in this part of the world. After David's health crisis, we had to apply for an extension of time for our stamp duty exemption on the block of land we bought at Diamond Beach. So I rang the conveyancer to ask for the correct address to apply to. Oh, she said, don't worry, I'll write that letter for you! A 6-month extension has now been granted (thanks Judy!) but she won't take any payment from us. All part of the service, she says. So, if you need a conveyancer: Key2 Conveyancing, Forster.
Today I had the pleasure of potting up some big indoor plants. My green thumbs have been aching lately. But there's no place to garden here, it's all done already in that garden-designer-formula fashion. But at least we can do the pot thing. Can't even do that in a caravan! Although one time I did see a couple of old dears in their van who got the pots out and lined them up in the sun at every stop. We never got quite that desperate!
David provides human interest by "tending" the indoor garden as you will see below. Marjory wonders what he's up to as well.
