More progress on the house

I have been asked to Keep It Up with the posts about progress on the house, so here goes. First, let me show you a floor plan, so that hopefully the pictures will make a bit more sense.

 In the above plan, north is at the top of the picture, the road is to the east (right).  The block is basically a 2 acre rectangle, with the long sides being north and south and the short sides being east and west.  The house is more or less in the middle, as you may be able to see from this site plan photo.

Below is what it currently looks like from the road.



Since the last blog post, the foundation's double walls have been filled with concrete.



Waterproofing has been painted on the insides, preparatory to being drained, lined and back filled

 It's been raining a bit as you can see (above) from the muddy footprints and (below) the muddy plumbers

 Meanwhile, our resident plovers keep a watchful eye.

 The insides of the foundation walls are lined, prior to being backfilled.

 Drainage for the bathrooms has been installed.

 Meanwhile at Taree court, a media scrum awaits the appearance of recently captured murderer, Malcolm Naden.

Back on site, trucks deliver road base.  This will be used to fill up and level the area of the main part of the house to the required height so that the slab can be poured on top. It is also spread on the lower levels, comprising studio and garage. 

 

John the bobcat man spreads road base over the area on which the slab will be poured next week.

Young Todd (below) spent the day shovelling gravel and thumping it down with a compactor. He has muscles on his muscles. You've got a tough job, I said. He bounced over on the balls of his feet, grinning.  I love me job, he said, I been back at work two months and I just really love it! Todd would have been a handful in a classroom, with that much energy.  Good on him. This view is from the NE corner, with the future kitchen in the foreground.

This view (below) is from the front driveway looking into what will be the garage (L) and studio (R) at the lower level.  The brick walls you can see are the foundations of what will become the study (L) and kitchen (R). The study, kitchen and all other rooms are at that higher level, up stairs that you can't see yet. Clear as mud?

 This view (below) is at the SW corner, from the back of the house, looking east through bedrooms 2 and 3, with the kitchen (L) and study (R) at the farthest end.
