Art Commune

The Hume Art Commune has been in operation at Tallwoods in the last couple of days while I have been at work. David, Peter and Marjory are preparing for the Hallidays Point Art Exhibition.

This morning there has been a flurry of framing and naming works and they have all headed off with their paintings, leaving me free to indulge my personal form of self expression - blogging. Since none of them is likely to read this blog unless I pester them to do so, I can freely give you a preview of the works each is submitting. Below is Marjory's painting of Peter and Elaine's back yard at Copacabana.  Thanks, Kath for taking and sending me the photo that provided the source material.

This is David's scumbled group portrait, a large work - again based on a photo - that I took of him at Vic markets on Christmas Eve.

This (below) is Peter's still life, painted yesterday using our blue water bottle, some nectarines and a lovely glass bowl that Bette gave us as a wedding present.

Peter was up at the crack of dawn putting the finishing touches to it.

The artworks have been consuming for all of them.  So much so that David completely forgot our arrangement to be driven home after his chiropractor appointment yesterday and I waited nearly 2 hours, exhausted and headachy, for him to emerge only to be told he'd brought the other car.  These are the "sorry flowers".  By the way, the chiropractor seems to be helping, thank heavens.

Progress on the house is a source of hope for me and an antidote to the blues. Here is what's happening: bricks have been delivered and will be used next week to build up the foundations to the level on which the slab will sit.  The structure of the house will be lighter, a sheeting product that is to be rendered and painted.

The foundations have been inspected and "pinned" by the surveyors. Mysterious yellow marks have appeared.

The electricity and water have been connected.
