Home again, home again

It does feel like home, this area. As the beautiful mid north coastal vegetation and landscape began to supplant the scrappy developed central coast around Newcastle, I began to relax in my driving and to calm inside. We were home by late Thursday afternoon, and I went to work on Friday, leaving David to rest and recuperate.

Today we had a consultation at the block with a guy who does dams. It looks promising for a repair and refurbish of the dam walls in summer. Plan is to dig it out and make it deeper so it functions as our garden water supply system. We also met Janet, our new neighbour across the road, and her sheep. Her big shaggy wether who came up to the fence and gave a gurgly growly baaa in the hope of a treat. He got a fireweed, turns out sheep eat fireweed! Excellent animals.

Then we went for a walk on the headland and were amazed how much it has transformed and become more rugged since the storms, most of the sand washed out by recent pounding seas.  Met a local, Celeste, who raved about how wonderful the area is and how much she loves it after years of living here. "It changes all the time" she said.

The rock colours of this area are inspiring us for the colour palette of the new house.

 Just visible, airborne in this shot is the white faced heron that had been fishing off the rocks in the mid ground.

There was a family of common terns circling the fishermen, looking for a cheap feed no doubt.
