GLAM

GLAM stands for Great Lakes Arts and Music.  In some insignificant parts of the world they have the Oscars, well, round these here parts we have the Glams.  And so it was that we arrived at the Tuncurry Bowling Club all glammed up (Sue's joke) and ready to rock last night for the annual awards night.  On the entertainment program for the evening were The Company of Voices, including Robyn and Chris, soprano and bass.

Also featured was the great Lakes Band, seen here in mid "Georgia"

(Below) The silver fox on trombone.

The music was so good that various worthies got up and danced! Including me and my partner, Marjory. She was having a great time. I wonder how long since she danced on a dance floor. She and David and I stood around the computer yesterday and belted out a rendition of Chatanooga Choo Choo, karaoke style. Amazing what you get up to when your children are not around to be appalled.

But I have to say, the highlight of the evening for our table was to win the Table Sculpture Competition.  The organisers supplied each table with an identical kit of vegetables and bits and pieces to work with. Here it is, the winning centrepiece featuring "vegemates"  (David's joke) two critters who seemed intent on sniffing eachother's bottoms. Also intent on collapsing on the table.  In fact just as the winning status was announced, both crashed to the tablecloth for the umpteenth time and had to be pieced back together for the triumphant official photo. Watch the Advocate for results. We won a box of chocolates! And the vegies came home to be made into a casserole tonight. Good result all round.

And here it is, proof.  The winning certificate.

And here, just for fun, is the casserole made from our winning entry!

This morning was the long awaited return of the Black Head Bazaar.  We had stumbled upon this fantastic market the weekend we arrived in Hallidays Point, but it goes into a long recess over winter. Here are some of the spoils: A pink knitted tea cosy, David's pick.

Some Seville oranges for marmalade.

And a brooch for my jacket. Love it!

Of course, there were lots of sensible things, like plants and fruit and veg. We bought some of them as well as indulgences for me.
