Note to self: Always get a quote in advance

We have just been mercilessly gouged by a lawyer, right here in friendly Forster, who would have thought? Our Canberra lawyer recommended sorting out Enduring Power of Attorney for eachother, and having the form witnessed by a NSW solicitor. So today we spent about 45 mins in the company of a local lawyer who works from home and were charged nearly $650 for the privilege. How do they get away with it?

Here's the best thing that happened today: organic local navels are in season. Always look on the bright side of life. (Whistles)

You may have heard about the floods on the mid north coast - it has been pelting for about a week.  Here's what the Lakes Way looked like on our drive into Forster today.

Our local beach has taken a thrashing, losing a bit of ground to a thumping, foaming sea and very high tides.

Curiously resilient sea foam lying all over the beach, and more washing in with every frothy wave.

This local wagtail followed David all up the beach for about 200m, chirping and wiggling all the way. What on earth was that all about?

Here is the Black Head lagoon looking freshly reamed out and showing itself off under the sunset.

In other news, we have the 3D computer model for our new house and David is leading Marjory through it as I write. She is astonished. Lot of work ahead of us to choose fixtures, colours, surface finishes and so on. It would really help if our internet connection was a bit more consistent, to help choices. Last weekend we went to the "Envirofair" at Taree, showcasing sustainable living technologies. Do you think two of these would help our sustainable living plans?
