The Belly of an Architect

The belly of an architect needs filling, so it was that after our meeting with our design team on Monday, we all went out to lunch at Buddha by the Beach, a new eatery in Pacific Palms. http://www.mobysretreat.com.au/dining/index.php If that phrase about the belly of the architect rings a bell, you may have seen the eponymous Peter Greenaway film. I do like Greenaway's films for all the visual allusions to food, art and architecture, it keeps you on your toes. But, yes, David, I agree he's a bit of a wanker. He did the infamous The cook, the thief, his wife and her lover, not recommended before dinner. Anyway, our lunch was rather good, with stylish asian fusion salads and good seafood. I had the soft shell crab salad with a zippy hot lime dressing and green tea noodles.

Cute duckling on the lake a minute's walk from our door.

We have been spoiled with visitors, Linda visited Monday to Wednesday, and on Friday Peter and Elaine came to stay for the weekend. The weather was lovely, unlike the dreary rain while Linda was here, sorry Linda. P and E  came to see David's orchestral performance, and I can report it was an absolute delight to hear in the lovely accoustics of the sandstone chapel at Harrington Waters, about 45 mins north of here.

Conductor James Hannah trained in the UK and still loves leading an orchestra of 50 musicians; hopes to keep doing it for another 20 years, until he is 100!

David playing his solo bit in Khachaturian's Spartacus.

Harrington Waters is on the Lansdowne River, one of the rivers that flooded last week. En route to the concert it was clear the waters had dropped a lot, but this flooded paddock with its cows still in water was typical. Lot of water around still.

Marjory has now gone back to Sydney with Peter and Elaine, so David can mentally and physically relax and prepare for our trip next week for his surgery at St George Hospital. I start my new job this Thursday. Time seems to be rushing past again.
