Another hill to climb

Cancer is just a word, not a sentence.  That is a mighty comforting statement actually. David has just been diagnosed with thyroid cancer, after noticing a goitre on himself, and seeking help for persistent headaches, fatigue and general weakness and feelings of being unwell. It's a real kicker, after fighting back from a rather nasty melanoma in January. So we are off to Sydney early next week for specialist appointments and most likely surgery at the end of the week. So far, doctors have been making reassuring noises about how treatable and common this kind of problem is. And we were much comforted today by a normal CT scan of his brain. So maybe this is just another hill to climb, and on the other side of the hill is a return to feeling healthy, energetic and optimistic about the future.
