Nanna and Fafa

On Tuesday, after more display homes, we enjoyed an evening out with Ruth and Frank in Brisbane.  Ruth and I have known eachother since we were 14.  She has always been a dear friend and I wish she and Frank lived a bit closer, but Queensland has claimed them both. Their Brisbane home is quite close to the University and there is a profusion of Asian eateries nearby.  We had a very delicious Hot Pot at one  of them.

Now we are further north at Buddina on the Sunshine Coast, being Nanna and Fafa to our adorable little granddaughter Sharloe. She is a little livewire, a happy. lively, squirmy bundle of explorative energy. She crawls at a gallop, reaches for everything in sight and loves everybody.  At 10 months, she is standing and walking around the furniture, so it won't be long before she keeps Lindsey and Rob even more on their toes when she starts to walk. She came home from childcare today sporting a banana bandana. Say that three times quickly!

Sharloe is into everything, here she launches upwards to grab onto the ceiling fan (and swing from it? She was utterly determined to get to it).

there are ten shots like this one, all over the place like a sack full of puppies, out of frame or out of focus!

We needed a bit of cheering up today, Rover went in for a set of new tyres and the cost was breathtaking, over $2K.  But the worst bit was being told, on pickup, that the vehicle is unroadworthy and needs new steering rack and lower control arm ball joints or it will scrub the new tyres and generally be unsafe for towing.  Cost, an extra $3K. Tomorrow we will take it for a second opinion, but I don't need to tell you, this was Very Disappointing news. Beginning to think we are not wealthy enough to own a Landrover.  Lindsey had the right idea, you bought it cheaper than other ones the same, she said, so now you're just making up the difference. If the previous owner did those repairs, you would have paid for it anyway!  I like that logic.  It makes me feel better.
