All quiet on the Sunshine Coast

Nanna and Fafa have the pleasure of the company of baby Sharloe all night tonight, while Lindsey and Rob go out for a well earned night off. So far, so good.  We've had a bit of a play on the floor, a bit of walking practice, some of Fafa's lasagne for dinner, followed by a bath, then some pureed apples, then a ride on Fafa's shoulders, then into the cot and out like a light.  This grandparenting thing isn't so hard! Sharloe is such an easy, amenable baby.  At least, thus far.  It may be a different story at 2am.  Wish us luck.

She'll love this one being trotted out on her 18th birthday!

Lindsey used to love this too.  Must be in the genes.

Earlier today we went out, to guess what?  To look at yet more display houses.  There's something compulsive about this.  Just one more, and one more.  Maybe this one will have the perfect decor, the exact right layout of kitchen, or bathroom, or outdoor area.  Below is one with a huge covered first floor balcony with louvre walls opening off a palatial main bedroom.Too grand for the likes of us.

We have discovered that the outdoor area is now called "the al fresco". Today we saw a perfectly designed media room.  I hasten to add we have no plans for a media room, but if we did, this would be the one to copy.  It was sunken, with big light-sealing sliding doors, blackout blinds, dark painted walls, a floating ceiling uplit with blue lights at the cornices, a big screen on the wall and an array of comfortable seating.  One could turn one's back on a brilliantly sunny day and descend into this cave-like space for a bit of hollywood at home, any time one fancied. Another thing: gardens are essentially non-existent these days, so big and close together are these enormous houses. Our Great Building Project on 2 acres will perhaps result in a house and grounds so labour intensive and outmoded that no-one will want to take it off our hands in a few years' time when we are too decrepit to keep it up. Do we worry about that? Nup.

David is complaining of stiff arms after carrying Sharloe for about half an hour today. He needs to get more practice, wouldn't you say?

Well I'm off to bed now.  All's well.
