The Other Side

Today, we went over to the other side.

What other side, do I hear you say? The wrong side of politics? The spirit world? Or even (gasp) Perth?

But you know us better than that. Nothing so interesting. The Other Side is a charming little gallery/teahouse a bit north of Taree. Here it is complete with the steep roof to, you know, shed the heavy snow that falls around here.

And why were we in Taree? Well David had an appointment with a visiting medical specialist, who consults on SUNDAYS at the Mayo clinic in Taree. Amazing that a top specialist is willing to give up his weekend to provide service for a country area. Either that or he has a huge mortgage. The outcome was another referral to another even more specialised specialist in Sydney as we continue the search for answers to David's severe neuropathic arm pain. Still hoping that an explanation and some treatment other than painkillers is possible.

So a restorative calming lunch by the river seemed a good idea after today's latest encounter with the medical profession. Warm haloumi salad and lemon meringue pie, plus pretty good coffee.

The Other Side has a long country driveway, decorated with a little bovine family.  This is the big soft brown daddy. There were quite a lot of mummies and a few smalls.

Back to Diamond Beach for a close look at the electrical installation. Want to be sure this is exactly as we specified after living grumpily with electrics that were installed not as we specified in the Fadden house. Unexpected visit from our architect while we were there, which was a lovely surprise! Matt and Trisha became, appropriately, the very first guests we have invited into the house through the newly installed front door. Here it is, the historic photo first (below).

Back at the golf course, the duck weed has gone crazy on the water hazards. This is the one nearest our place, you can see the little tracks ploughed through the water by the ducks. We will soon have a closer view of this particular water feature, because the villa we are living in has been sold, and we have to move to the adjacent villa. Bit of a pain, even though we are extremely grateful to our landlords for offering their place. I guess it will make the move into our own new home all the sweeter, after a few months of living in someone else's house. They don't actually live there, but it is full of their stuff.

It is getting cooler here.  I've started wearing  jumpers. But its all relative. You don't need coats, gloves or scarves.
