Got a good ship and a jolly good crew, heave away, haul away, bound for southern Australia...It was hard to leave the Daintree but it had to be so. After the usual languid start we got away about 11am, and soon found an excuse to stop. A tea plantation.
It was being harvested as we watched.
As it happens, we had just run out of tea bags, how fortuitous. So we bought two boxes of "Daintree Tea" featuring a cassowary on the box, from the roadside stall outside the plantation. Another traveller advised us our caravan stop lights were not working. So languid we were this morning, hitched up with no connections. No cross check either. Whoops. Lucky. We were lucky, again.
Crossed the river by ferry again and went to Daintree Village for lunch in a cafe while the Melbourne Cup was on the screen. No bets this year, but you'd be unAustralian not to watch.
So it's farewell to the Cape Tribulation area. Will we ever get back there I wonder? It is so lovely. Here it is, we are standing on the actual headland that Cook was complaining about. He wrote, I named it Cape tribulation because here all our tribulations started. Just another whingeing pom, don't you think?
