Then there is the splendour of yesterday's sunset, augmented as it was by a brace of photogenic swans. More of them later...
Here's the rig all set up, facing north, under the whispering casuarinas and near the lake.
Today we rode to Stocklands, bike path all the way. Coffee and muffin with the weekend SMH. Then a visit to Bunnings, it is Sunday after all. One must do one's devotional duty. Managed to ring both Lian and Mae. The news about their Dad is good, he is out of surgery and recovering.
Pretty soon, it's late afternoon and those swans are back, paddling back and forth and parading for the camera lens like girls in their formal frocks.
Low tide reveals a vast congregation of mollusc shells. Each one full of a busy, slimy critter that hoiks itself along on its gastropod, at quite a pace, surprisingly.
Some of them even do wheelies and doughnuts, obviously going so fast they apparently have to plough into the sand to stop. Those would be the young male P-Plate molluscs, no doubt.
Sadly, there are the inevitable multiple mollusc pile-ups.
There are thousands of them on the edge of the lake. You can see their silhouettes here.
David The Intrepid wades bravely out into the wilds of Mollusc Land. He beckons me to follow but I decline.
Who knows what lurks out there in the shallows? It might be one of these....
As I write, Wallis Lake is gathering itself up to launch into yet another amazing sunset scene just behind the van. Excuse me but I have to go out and sit by the shore now, perhaps with an aperitif in my hand. And loads of aerogard on my feet. The swans are busily paddling into shot from the nearby creek. They have their red lippy on. Let the show begin!
Oh dear, old timer's disease has hit the eloquent psychologist, or perhaps we're seeing more than you these days. A brace is two, but the swan pictures have at least three in them. Back to practising pedantry.
