So tired

So tired. Busy few days. It's Wednesday evening and I'm working tomorrow. "Busy" is all relative, of course. We haven't been as busy as I was a few years ago when I was running a household of seven and working full-time.  Or as busy as Linda and Phil are now.  Or as busy as brother Derek is, which is about five times as busy as any one else I know, including Linda and Phil.  But it was busy for us.  Here's what we did. Sunday, drove to Sydney and cooked and ate a roast at Linda and Phil's, saw Kirstin, Nate and Marjory. Monday, out for breakfast at The Book Kitchen with Keir and Marg, then David rested and I caught a train to Petersham to look at bathroom fittings. That night we met up with friend Jim Kitay at "Emon" Japanese restaurant.

Good to see Jim and hear about his relocation back to Sydney where his small Elizabeth Bay apartment is worth more than our big house in Fadden sold for! Tuesday we headed for St George Hospital for a post-surgery check-up.

All going well is the report, with another procedure still ahead, involving radioactive iodine tablets and another few days in hospital. But following that, David can expect to make a full recovery over the next few months. Right now he still tires easily and in the last week, has had the additional fun of a tick bite and a crook back to add to his health challenges! But he is bearing up and still cracks his jokes, so he's getting there.  After the hospital,  we rewarded ourselves with a Campos coffee at Montgomery Cafe. It had ears. This one is for you, Mae.

Tuesday night we saw Lally Katz' new play at Belvoir Theatre: "Neighbourhood Watch". Lined up on Tuesday morning at the box office for cancellation tickets because it is sold out.  We got lucky, and so did the two interesting women in front of us, who had been there since 6.30am. One of them, Helen Moulder is an actor and playwright herself and we got talking about the possibility of bringing her production "Playing Miss Haversham" to the Mid North Coast. She's a Kiwi, thinking of a tour mid 2012.  http://www.willowproductions.co.nz/ Hope she keeps in touch.

She's been writing plays since she was a child, wrote one for Lian in year 12 Drama. At one time they were going to take the world by storm, Lally writing and Lian performing. Lian's dreams changed but Lally's stayed the same. Her voice comes through the writing, same as ever. This morning we did yet more hunting for bathroom ideas. Here's one we WON'T be using but it's such an OTT delight I took a picture: black tiled, black glass bathroom with black and white bath, crystal bead curtain, red chandelier and this: a floor to ceiling heated towel ladder. Only $2000 folks.

The drive home to Halliday's Point seemed very long. Lunch at a rest area being eye-balled by a butcher bird. Had designs on our sandwiches, that bird...

Whenever we get home from a trip away, we go and have a look at the sea. There's something very calming and restorative about looking at the sea. Here is today's look.
