In his book Caravanastan, Greg Bearup refers to joining “a herd of superannuated wildebeest” who are on the same odyssey. What is it about for us seniors, this phenomenon of travel around Australia? We have finished working, finished being responsible, finished raising our children. This newly retired generation that grew up in the sixties, now we are turning sixty. But unlike our war-worn parents, who were ready to sit down quietly at this age, we are still up and bothering about on the edges of social change. Was it the sixties, that metamorphic decade that has defined our refusal to put up and shut up?
For us, its not “all over rover”. Come with us in our Landrover and share the discoveries and the people and the ideas that happen along with travel. Lets Rover All Over.
Tomorrow morning we embark on The Spirit of Tasmania. Tonight we have been spoiled with a farewell feast of seafood and Tiramisu at daughter Lian's whose own blog was what inspired Sue to do this one.
