Yesterday, a long held dream of David's actually became reality. He has wanted to have a fireplace in our lounge room, basically as long as I've known him.
The yearning was frisked up by this scene, taken at the hearth and home of our neighbours, Helen and Vic, when we visited a couple of weeks ago. That's their cat.
David went to the shop and bought a slow combustion fireplace. Robyn and Chris gave us the cat bed. All is in place. Yesterday, the installation. Step one, check the archives as to whether the preferred location will work.
Yep. Looks OK.
Step 2, cut a hole for the flue.
Using this nifty little laser device to pinpoint the position.
Its a big enough hole I think...
Step 3, roofwork
Step 4, install the flue inside.
Step 5. Apply match.
And there you have it - a fire!
Now, we just need a cat.
In other news, Mae, Wim and Lian sent a photo of themselves from Melbourne, taken while Mae and Nick were passing through on their honeymoon. What a pretty picture for a Mum to have. Sigh...
But when this one came through a few days later I had to take a deep breath. Sandrea agreed to shave Wim's head and Lian is sporting a massive black eye from a fall.
